Recorded in Memphis on September 10 or 11, 1954 and released on Sun #210 on September 22 of that year.

Blue Christmas- Elvis Presley

Here's Elvis Presley with would should be considered the most famous version of the song "Blue Christmas."


Elvis cut the recording in Hollywood on September 5, 1957 and was first released as a track on the RCA-Victor album Elvis' Christmas Album.

(1954) Sun 209 ''That's All Right'' Elvis Presley, Scotty and Bill

This, of course, is Elvis Presley's first commercial recording for Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee.  The future King of Rock 'n' Roll recorded Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup's "That's All Right" on July 5, 1954 with Scotty Moore on lead electric guitar and Bill Black on stand-up bass, thus the labels says "Elvis Presley, Scotty and Bill."


Released on July 19, 1954 on Sun #209 (with Elvis' version of "Blue Moon of Kentucky" on the flip side).

Here's Elvis Presley with the his rendition of the Bill Monroe-penned "Blue Moon of Kentucky," with Scotty Moore on electric lead guitar and Bill Black on stand-up bass.  

Recorded in Memphis on July 6 and 7, 1954 and released on July 19 of that year on Sun #209 (on the flipside of "That's All Right.").

(1955) Sun 223 ''I Forgot To Remember To Forget'' Elvis Presley, Scotty ...

Before he began recording for RCA Victor, Elvis Presley recorded for Sam Phillips' Sun Records in Memphis.  "I Forgot To Remember To Forget," recorded on July 11, 1955 and released on August 1 of that same year on Sun #223, was Elvis' first national number one hit, on Billboard magazine's Country and Western charts.


It, along with "Mystery Train," made up Elvis' final single to be released on Sun Records.

Heartbreak Hotel

On this, the 40th anniversary of Elvis Presley's passing, we present the King of Rock'n' Roll with his first major pop hit, his 1956 recording of "Heartbreak Hotel.

It was Elvis' first major hit for RCA Victor Records, recorded in Nashville.
