1957 HITS ARCHIVE: Whole Lot Of Shakin’ Going On - Jerry Lee Lewis (#3 '...



In the roughly two years before Jerry Lee Lewis cut the definitive version of this song, at least there had been four earlier recorded versions of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On."

Here's Jerry Lee's classic 1957 hit version.

Recorded in Memphis, Tennessee and released on Sun #267.

Darrell Glenn, who cut the original version of "Crying in the Chapel" some two years earlier, appears to be featured here as a member of this vocal group.

Some six months after Big Maybelle cut her original version, Roy Hall recorded his version of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On.

Roy claimed that he co-wrote the song with Dave (Curly) Williams.

Recorded in 1955 in Nashville, Tennessee and released on Decca Records.
